1.   Electrical Status: Approved for UG only.

Please address the following comments for full approval.

2.  The following comments based on the 2011 National Electrical Code (NEC) must be resolved before a permit is issued. The approval of plans and specifications does not permit the violation of any section of the NEC or any federal, state or local regulations.

3.  PARKING LIGHT POLE (GROUND MOVEMENT):
Sheet E1.3 (“5” Bollard Light Detail - Light Pole Ground Movement). The detail shows schedule 40 PVC below grade. NEC Section 300.5(J) requires that where direct buried conductors, raceway, or cables are subject to movement by settlement or frost, direct buried conductors, raceways, or cable shall be arranged to prevent damage to the enclosed conductors or to equipment connected to the raceways. The arrangement we require is that metal rigid conduit, 5 feet minimum be installed between the base of the pole and underground conduits. Please address.

4.  CIRCUIT DIRECTORY OR CIRCUIT INDENTIFICATION ON FLOOR PLAN & PANEL SCHEDULES:

Sheet E2.4 (Panel Schedules and Floor Plans Circuit Identifications). Panel schedule has many circuits named dryer/gas 75 LB-322, and guest dryer electric. Please note that these circuits should be individually identified with their locations on floor plans and on the panel schedules as required per NEC 408.4 for circuit identifications.

5. EXTERIOR CT MAIN DISCONNECT:

Sheets E4.1 and E4.6 (One Line Diagram – Fault Current Calculation). The exterior CT main disconnect is marked with 60,000 AIC while the calculation on sheet E4.6 is 69,328Amps. Please address .Refer to Anchorage Administrative Code AAC 23.10.104.8.1. Please address.

6. SERIES RATING (AVALIABLE FAOULT CURRENT CALCULATIONS):

Sheet E4.6. There are many panels with fault current calculation higher than 10,000A.

A note is required on the one-line diagram to alert the electrical supplier and contractor that a panel has higher than 10,000 AIC needs to have a series rating or the equipment need to be fully rated at branch circuit panel. Refer to Anchorage Administrative Code AAC 23.10.104.8.1. Please address

7.  When the above comments have been addressed, please update the electrical plans at the MOA Plans Review Office with three (3) sets of revised electrical pages to include clouded changes, electrical engineers stamp and signature.

The following questions (on page #2) are on the elevator:

MOA Electrical Plan Review Section – Questions for new electric traction elevator installation or modernization projects:

1) Does this elevator installation or modernization project include a new re-generative drive control system (If yes, the following questions need to be answered, and if no, please return this form to the MOA electrical plan review section, and disregard the following questions)?

2) Is the power added to the building output engineered to conform to applicable sections of IEEE 1547?  Provide a statement to the MOA electrical plan review section, indicating that it is.

3) How much power (KVA) does it generate back to the power system?

4) Are the overcurrent devices suitable for back feeding (not marked “line” and “load”) (NEC – 110.2, 705.12(D)(5) & 705.22)?

5) Is/are the elevator(s) on an auxiliary power source, such as a standby or emergency power generator?

(a) If no, what is the means of absorbing the regenerated power, and is it capable of absorbing the energy generated by an overhauling load (A17.1-2004, 2.26.10)?

            (b) If yes, go to question #6.

6) If other building loads are used to absorb regenerated power, are those other building loads automatically connected to the standby or emergency power system when the elevator is transferred to standby or emergency power (NEC - 620.91, and A17.1-2004, 2.27.2.5)?

            (a) If yes, what is the means of absorbing the regenerated power, and is it

adequate for absorbing the regenerated power (large enough, able to handle

harmonic distortion, surges, etc.) (NEC – 620.91(B) and A17.1-2004, 2.27.2.5)?

            (b) If no, is there a separate regenerated power absorption means, such as a        resistor load bank, on the load side of each elevator disconnect switch, or       a common resistor load bank provided on the elevator feeder (NEC - 620.91, and     A17.1-2004, 2.27.2 & 2.26.10)?

7) Please verify that the disconnecting means required by NEC - 620.51 disconnects the elevator from both the emergency or stand by power system and the normal power system (NEC - 620.91(C)).

6.  When the above comments have been addressed, please update the electrical plans at the MOA Plans Review Office with three (3) sets of revised electrical pages to include clouded changes, electrical engineers stamp and signature.
