PERMIT STATUS

8/22/2014 – Review complete. Comments issued.

10/3/2014 - Response reviewed. Comments issued.

Advisory Comment (no response required):  This review is based on the requirements of the Anchorage Administrative Code (AAC), 2009 International Building Code (IBC), 2009 International Residential Code (IRC) and all adopted references thereto as amended by MOA. The following comments must be addressed before a permit can be issued. The approval of plans and specifications does not permit the violation of the codes, or any federal, state or local regulations.

1. Please provide calculations showing the deadman has sufficient capacity to transfer it's resisting weight. This weight is just the total buoyancy force - (the resisting weigth - the soil over grade beam weight - the grade beam weight). Reference IBC section 1604.2. Please remember that buoyancy force is an H force like lateral earth pressure and must be factored by 1.6. See "Notations" under IBC section 1602.1.

Comment remains. The calculations appear to require a maximum spacing on the straps of 7.3'. It does not appear as if this is reflected on the drawings. Please note that it may not be possible to meet this requirement for the full length of the dead man since the dead man extends past the tank (and the ends of the tank are smooth and do not appear to accommodate a strap). Please clarify.

Please also have the engineer responsible for the design fo the deadman stamp the drawings and indicate the portion of the design that is his responsibility as required by the Alaska State Statutes section 08.48.221. WAB - 10/3/2014

Please provide a written response to the comments and include one copy of additional or revise calculations, and two copies of additional or revise drawings.
