Advisory Information:
. PERMIT STATUS 10/6/2009 - C.O. #4 - Initial review. Comments issued. 11/5/2009 - Reviewed responses. Inspection items noted on plans. Approved. SEISMIC SEPARATION Refer to Sheet A1.02, Calculations Section 2.4.5. Please address the following: The plans do not show any consideration for separation from adjacent racks; the configuration does appear to show a potential for structural "banging" in each of the primary orthogonal directions. Please clarify the separation as calculated per Section 2.4.5. Please note that displacement analysis is mandatory per ASCE 7-05. Reference: IBC Section 1613.1; ASCE 7 Section 15.5.3.4 11/5/09 - Resolved. The response notes that load beams are present between adjacent racks. The plans do not indicate such, but this can be verified in the field. MMP POST-INSTALLED CONCRETE ANCHORS - SPECIAL INSPECTION Refer to Sheet A1.02, RU-9, Calculations Section 2.5.5. Special inspection is required per ICC-ES reports (various sections per manufacturer). Please clarify frequency of inspection. Reference: IBC Section 1705.2 - Item 5 11/5/09 - Resolved. Periodic inspection noted. MMP POST-INSTALLED CONCRETE ANCHORS - DESIGN Refer to Sheet A1.02, RU-9, Calculations Section 2.5.5. Please address the following: a. The anchorage design notes concrete failure as the governing limit state. Anchorage to concrete in high seismic zones must be limited by ductile failure modes, or non-ductile yielding provisions must be used. Please provide revised design analysis, and details as necessary. b. The anchorage design does not address the high seismic resistance factor of 0.75. Please provide revised analysis, and details as necessary. Reference: IBC Section 1912.1; ACI 318 Section D.3.3.3, D.3.3.4 11/5/09 - Resolved. Revised analysis and comparison between ACI and RMI loading provided. MMP
