C(1): VOLUNTARY SEISMIC UPGRADE - GENERAL COMMENT This review is based on the requirements of the 2003 International Existing Building Code (IEBC) and all adopted references thereto as amended by MOA. No review has been performed on existing elements to which the retrofits will not cause an increase in force. New lateral force resisting elements have only been reviewed to verify that they meet the detailing requirements of the IBC. New gravity elements and those lateral elements required due to a reduction of the existing capacity of the building have been reviewed in accordance with the IBC. The following comments must be addressed before a permit can be issued. The approval of plans and specifications does not permit the violation of the codes, or any federal, state or local regulations. C(2): PRECONSTRUCTION MEETING It is MOA policy that all projects with valuations over 1 million dollars have a preconstruction meeting to coordinate MOA inspections and special inspections. Please schedule this meeting prior to starting construction by calling the inspection request line at 343-8300. Reference: IBC section 1704.1.1.1 locally amended.
