. C(1): The following comments based on the 2000 International Building Code (IBC) must be resolved before a permit is issued. The approval of plans and specifications does not permit the violation of any section of the IBC or any federal, state or local regulations. C(2): A1.1, A2.1: Reference the new exterior exit stair. Stairways must have a solid surface per section 1003.3.3.5.1. In this case, grip strut is specified. Per the exception, grip strut may be used on S occupancies, but in this case the stair serves a B occupancy. Please address. Also note that exterior stairs must be protected from the accumulation of ice and snow per section 1003.3.3.5.2. Grip strut can meet this requirement, but cannot be used to serve a B occupancy. Resolved 9-7-05 per alternate methods approval to use grip strut based on use of facility.
