The approval of plans and specifications does not permit the violation of any section of the IBC or any federal, state or local regulations. C(2): Please provide clarification for the wood direct attached and furred out construction per the IBC code. Where walls and ceilings are required by any provision in this code to be of fire-resistance-rated or noncombustible construction, the interior finish material shall be applied directly against such construction or to furring strips not exceeding 1.75 inches applied directly against such surfaces.
