. C(1): The following comments based on the 1997 edition of the Uniform Mechanical Code must be resolved before a permit is issued. The approval of plans and specifications does not permit the violation of any section of the Uniform Mechanical Code or any federal, state or local regulations. STATUS: ALL COMMENTS RESOLVED BY ENGINEER ON REVISED PLANS EXCEPT AS NOTED BELOW 03-13-01. C(2): M411, M413, M414: Duct penetrations through the 3 hour occupancy separation wall (separating the baggage handling from the assembly areas) require 3 hour fire/smoke dampers in accordance with UBC section 302.3. All other fire/smoke dampers can be 1-1/2 hour rated. The specifications require that the contractor determine the wall rating and install a fire/smoke damper with a suitable rating. In order to avoid conflicts in the field, we request that all 3 hour fire/smoke damper locations be clarified on the plans.
