11/04/2019 – 2nd review complete; additional submittals are required.
This review is based on the requirements of the Anchorage Municipal Code (AMC), 2012 International Building Code (IBC) and all adopted references thereto as amended by MOA. The following comments must be addressed before a permit can be issued. The approval of plans and specifications does not permit the violation of the codes, or any federal, state or local regulations.
The status of the 10/22/19 review comments are as follows:
1. The design wind speed is shown as 130 mph per ASCE 7-10 in the calculations and drawings. The correct wind speed, Vu, is 145 mph as determined from the MOA Three Second Gust Wind Zones map. Please revise.
Unresolved. Two blank pages have been submitted for the monument sign in the revised calculation package. Please provide the calculations.
2. The calculations indicate soil design values are determined from a geotechnical study; please provide the report.
Resolved.
3. Drawing 5 shows an HSS 6x6 support post but also states that the sign is connected to the masonry shown; please clarify the support condition.
4. Drawing 5 shows #6 bar @ 12" O.C. T & B; it appears that his should say "each face."
5. Please provide calculations and construction drawings for the masonry portion of the sign referenced in the drawings including foundation loads and connections to the footing and connection of the sign to the masonry.
Please provide by deferred submittal.
Please address each comment and include one copy of additional/revised calculations and two copies of additional/revised drawings. Please indicate the location of any additions or corrections in the response. All documents should be submitted to the permit manager as shown above.
