COVERED MALL DESIGNATION
Clarify in the code study if the store will be considered part of the covered mall, or if the tenant space qualifies as an anchor store. Please also address the following:
a. If the tenant space qualifies as an anchor store, please note on the plans the requirement to separate existing sprinkler system lines that are crossing the anchor store separation wall.
b. If the tenant space does not qualify as an anchor store, please note that the existing mall emergency voice/alarm communication system will be extended into the tenant space.

OCCUPANT EGRESS WIDTH
Refer to Sheet A001. The code study notes the egress width for components other than stairs as 0.15 in. per occupant. Please clarify if the existing mall emergency voice/alarm communication (EVAC) system is being added, or extended into the tenant space; this provision is only permitted when the premises is protected by an automatic sprinkler system and an EVAC system compliant with IFC Section 907.5.2.2.

FIRE EXTINGUISHER COVERAGE
Refer to Sheet A231. Please address the following:
a. The plans do not identify the rating for the fire extinguishers. Please provide.
b. Depending on the rating of the extinguishers, it is possible the Class A coverage is not met. Mercantile spaces are considered ordinary hazard per NFPA 10, and would require a minimum of 20A for adequate protection. Use of 2A extinguishers would only provide 10A protection.
c. Please clarify the protection of the stockroom areas, and the area bounded by Grids P-Q/1-2. These areas are either beyond the 75 ft. travel distance, or have no coverage shown.
