PERMIT STATUS
12/05/2018 – Initial review complete. Comments issued.
1. RISK CATEGORY & STRUCTURAL RELIABILITY
This project consists of renovations to accommodate Anchorage Police Department personnel in the downtown core. Facilities critical for emergency response, including police stations, are typically assigned to Risk Category IV for structural design to minimize potential damage and service interruptions as a result of extreme environmental events.
This existing structure appears to be consistent with a Risk Category II office rather than Risk Category IV facility. Is the Police Department aware that this building is likely not designed for the elevated importance factors usually prescribed for design of police stations and do they accept this decreased structural reliability?

2. PARITION WALLS
Please provide bracing details for partition walls over 9’-0”.
[Reference: ASCE 7-10 § 13.5.8.1]
Please provide a written response to the comments and include one copy of additional or revise calculations, and two copies of additional or revised drawings. While not required it is extremely helpful to the reviewer if the response indicates where in the submittal each comments has been addressed.
All submittals should be sent to the permit manager.
