3. DIMENSIONS TO PORTALS
Sheets C1.2 and C1.4 show portals on the concreteslabs. Please provide dimensions tolocate the portals on the slabs.
4. STANDARD CONCRETE PILINGS?
Sheet S-1, Note 1 says “Standard concrete pilings for20’-4” portal.” There are no connectiondetails for placing the portals on top of concrete. If the portals are to be placed on top of theconcrete please provide details.
5. SK1 – S2.0 PORTAL CONNECTION TO PILES
The portals appear to be located within the footprint ofthe concrete slabs. The concrete slabneeds to be free to move up and down based on frost action. If piles are to be used, they must go throughthe concrete slab. Please dimension anddetail this condition. Typically rebaris added at slab openings. Please show theslab in the detail and how it is free to move up and down with respect to thepile.
6. SK1 – S2.0 – HORIZONTAL SHEAR FORCE BETWEENPORTAL AND PILE
This detail shows a 3 inch gap between the base plates ofthe portal column and the top of the pile. Please show that the anchor bolts can transfer the lateral shearreaction force through the bolts in shear and bending.
6. SK1 – S2.0 – PORTAL COLUMN 8 INCHES
Please note that this detail is visually confusing. The portal column is 8 inch while the pile is10 inch. They are not the same width asshown in this drawing.
7. PILE EMBEDMENT
The geotechnical report says that minimum driving depthfor piles is 30 feet and that piles should be driven open-ended. Please show this information on the drawings.
