1.  PERMIT STATUS

8-24-2017 – Permit reviewed. Comments issued.

2.  Advisory Comment (no response required):  This review is based on the requirements of
the 2012 Anchorage Administrative Code (AMC 23.10), 2012 International Building
Code (IBC), and all adopted references thereto as amended by MOA.  The following comments must be addressed
before a permit can be issued. The approval of plans and specifications does
not permit the violation of the codes, or any federal, state, or local
regulations.

Please submit a
written explanation for how each comment has been addressed.

3.  DIMENSIONS TO PORTALS

Sheets C1.2 and C1.4 show portals on the concrete
slabs.  Please provide dimensions to
locate the portals on the slabs.

4.  STANDARD CONCRETE PILINGS?

Sheet S-1, Note 1 says “Standard concrete pilings for
20’-4” portal.”  There are no connection
details for placing the portals on top of concrete.  If the portals are to be placed on top of the
concrete please provide details.

5.  SK1 – S2.0 PORTAL CONNECTION TO PILES

The portals appear to be located within the footprint of
the concrete slabs.  The concrete slab
needs to be free to move up and down based on frost action.  If piles are to be used, they must go through
the concrete slab.  Please dimension and
detail this condition.  Typically rebar
is added at slab openings.  Please show the
slab in the detail and how it is free to move up and down with respect to the
pile.

6.  SK1 – S2.0 – HORIZONTAL SHEAR FORCE BETWEEN
PORTAL AND PILE

This detail shows a 3 inch gap between the base plates of
the portal column and the top of the pile.
Please show that the anchor bolts can transfer the lateral shear
reaction force through the bolts in shear and bending.

6.  SK1 – S2.0 – PORTAL COLUMN 8 INCHES

Please note that this detail is visually confusing.  The portal column is 8 inch while the pile is
10 inch.  They are not the same width as
shown in this drawing.

7.  PILE EMBEDMENT

The geotechnical report says that minimum driving depth
for piles is 30 feet and that piles should be driven open-ended.  Please show this information on the drawings.

8.  THREE SHEDS

Three sheds are shown
on the drawings.  Please provide
information on the sheds, their foundations and the attachment to foundations.  Provide calculations
