The Helipad shall conform to NFPA 418. You state this under special requirement for helipads & helistops note 6 yet the design does not comply.

Show the pitch and direction of pitch of the landing pad. Slope shall be between 1/2 to 2% and shall be away from, so that it protects, egress and passenger holding areas and building openings.
3
_
Resolved
The main structural support members for the pad are required to be made of fire resistant/listed materials with a rating of not less than 2 hrs.
4
_
Resolved
The landing pad surface shall be constructed of approved noncombustible as well as nonporous materials. The wood material does not meet this. Intermescent paint does not make the wood noncombustible.

Is it your intent to provide the required foam fire system. Show on the plans how you will meet this requirement. A separate submital, review, & permit is required and can be deferred. Please acknowledge. If substituting foam fire extinguishers you are required to have a minimum of two each with 20A-160-B rating. If used, how will you protect these from freezing? NFPA 418 9.1.1 also requires a minimum of one 4A:80BC FE. The FE on A3.1 shows only an 80B:C rating.

Provide "No Smoking" signs at both the access & egress points to the helipad. Show locations on plans.

Resolved
Provide a landing at the stair/gate that allows egress from the ladder egress area back to the roof exit.
8

Resolved
Manual pull stations are required at each designated means of egress from the landing pad.

Resolved
The existing building standpipe system is required to be extended to the roof helipad. A separate submittal, review, & permit is required for additions or modifications to the standpipe.

Show how the design of the landing pad will confine a fuel spill to the landing area. Also, it is anticipated that the wood decking will have gaps that would allow fuel to seep onto the roof below where the main structural supports are located?

Resolved
Two egress points off the pad are required per NFPA 418 - 5.5. They are also required to be remote from each other. The design has them converging at the same location. Also how will one get from the pad to the lower roof by the ladder egress as the lower level roof has no stair? The level appears too high for a single step.

Resolved
Sheet A0.5 shows a roof top unit that appears to be an obstruction to the landing area. The same applies to the guardrail at the primary stair egress area.

Resolved
NFPA 418 requires two access points for fire fighting. Please show the 2nd access.

Resolved
It is anticipated that trained personnel may not be available on site during aircrart operations. Therefore NFPA 418 - 5.7.1 requires fixed fire protection outlets to be provided. This would require a foam system. Please address. If the operator is intending to provide safety personnel please submit an emergency plan & training program for these personnel. The plan & training shall be in conformance with NFPA 418 Appendix B.

What is the approach & departure path or paths of the heliport? Show on the plans. It appears that the landing pad is too small. What is the length of the aircraft as this may affect the size of the landing pad? It appears the length is nearly 40 ft. Although the pad meets the minimum size per NFPA & IBC it appears that it is too small for the specified helicoptor
