1. The following comments based on the 2014National Electrical Code (NEC) must be resolved before a permit is issued. Theapproval of plans and specifications does not permit the violation of anysection of the NEC or any federal, state or local regulations.
2. AVAILABLE FAULT CURRENT:
Sheet E4.0 (Available FaultCurrent – Line Diagram). Provide calculation for the available fault current atthe main service equipment. NEC Section 110.24 requires that service equipmentbe legibly marked in the field with maximum available fault current. Pleaseaddress.
3. TRANSOFRMER GROUNDING:
Sheet 4.0. The transformergrounding shows “grounding transformer secondary in accordance with NEC article250.30”. Provide details of the grounding per NEC article 250.30 and 250.102.
4.TRANSFORMERS MOUNTING (STRUCTURAL REVIEW):
Sheet E4.0 (One Line Diagram – Transformers). Providestructural, seismic and wind load calculations as applicable, plus fasteningdetails for the transformers. Include engineers stamp and signature, forstructural review on a deferred submittal basis. Referto AnchorageAdministrative Code AAC 23.10.104.8.1. Please address.
5. TRANSFORMERDISCONNECTING MEANS:
Sheet E4.0. Pleaseverify that the transformers disconnecting means comply with NEC Section450.14. NEC Section 450.14 requires that transformers have a disconnectingmeans located either in sight of the transformer or in a remote location. Whenlocated in the remote location, the disconnecting means shall be lockable andshall be field marked to reference the transformer location.
6. TRANSFORMER (OVER 112.5KVA) FIRE RATEDHOUSING:
Sheet E4.0 (Line Diagram - 300KVA Transformer Fire Rating Enclosure). NEC Section 450.21(B) requirestransformer larger than 112.5KVA to be installed in a fire resistant room ofminimum 1-hr fire rating. Please address.
7. AIC RATING:
Sheet E4.0. The plans havea table that has calculation results of the AIC and panel schedules show FCA + 10% min fully rated. Please providesample of detail calculations for panels LP1 and LBD.
8. ISOLATED GROUNDING SYSTEM:
Sheet AV101. Provide detailsfor the isolated system. Is the isolation at the panel or transformer?
9. When the above comments have been addressed,please update the electrical plans at the MOA Plans Review Office with three(3) sets of revised electrical pages to include clouded changes, electrical engineersstamp and signature.
