9/13/2016 - Change order reviewed. Comments issued.

1. Please provide drawings showing the structural modifications made to the slab on metal deck. Reference the Anchorage Administrative Code (AAC) section 23.10.104.8.

2. The assumptions made in the letter are incorrect. In no case does a diaphragm behave in the manner assumed. This is especially true for a rigid diaphragm (and even more so where the resisting elements are moment frames). Please revise the letter and verify no structural strengthening needs to occur. Please note that nothing could be verified since no construction drawings were provided for the new opening. Please also note that is not not clear is additional framing is needed to support the edge of the new opening. Please clarify. Reference IBC section 1604.4 and AAC section 23.10.104.8.
