Special inspectors shall obtain pre-approval for each category of inspection they wish to perform.

2IBC Section 1604.4

Any system or method of construction to be used shall be based on a rational analysis in accordance with well-established principles of mechanics. Such analysis shall result in a system that provides a complete load path capable of transferring loads from their point of origin to the load-resisting elements.

Refer to Detail 3/S1, Calculations Pg. 4. The calculations appear to only address the vertical shear component of the brace force on the double angle connection. Unless the existing shear tab connection for the wide flange can support the entire tension component, the double angle anchors would need to support the combined tension and shear applied to the connection. In addition, given the work point, the connection would also have to address the prying moment due to the connection eccentricity.

3AMC 23.10.104.8.1Construction documents shall be of sufficient clarity to indicate the location, nature, and extent of the work proposed and show in detail that the work will conform to the provisions of this code.Resolved
Refer to Detail 6/S1, Calculations Pg. 4. The calculations and details call for a #5 clevis for connecting the rod brace to the gusset. The calculations also note a clevis capacity of 135 kips. This capacity is for the #6 clevis, not #5. Please revise accordingly.
