PERMIT REASSIGNED TO TOMMY C 8/26/2014-GJS
BRACE CONNECTION DESIGN
Reference the design of the braced frame connections. For the hillside washer connection please verify that bending in the web per AISC 360-05 chapter F has been verified. For the clevis and clip connection please verify that the connection is designed per AISC 360-05 section D5.
Comment remains. The response to this comment did not address the comment. It appears that the standard design procedures from the blue scope design manual have been provided. We are aware of the normal limit states that these connections are designed too, but these limit states do not include bending in the web or a check per D5 as indicated in the original comment. Please provide. WAB – 12/1/2014
BRACE CONNECTION DETAILS
Reference the drawings. No details could be located for the clevis and clip braced frame connection. Please provide. Please ensure the detail contains all the information required by AISC 303-05 section 3.1.2. For the hillside wall connection a back up plate is shown, but no information has been provided about this plate (size, attachment, etc). Please provide.
Comment remains. The clevis and clip detail has been added, but the hillside washer connection has not been clarified. Please clarify and resubmit for review. WAB – 12/1/2014
CONNECTION DETAILS
Reference the drawings. Please provide details for all connection with all the information required by AISC 303-05 section 3.1.2. Information must include all welding requirements and plate sizes. For example, on page 4 of the drawings the base plates are shown, but no base plate thickness or no column to base plate connection could be found. Page 9 of the drawings calls out bolting requirements for the moment connections, but there are no details showing the welding requirements. How are the built up members constructed? Etc. Please provide this information. Reference AISC 303-05 section 3.1.2.
Comment resolved. The requested information has been provided. WAB – 12/1/2014
EAVE STRUT
It is likely the eave strut is a collector on lines A and D. The connections shown in detail RS12PA and RS12PE on page 15 of the drawings will need to have the bolts in the shear connection installed fully pretension and the faying surfaces prepared as Class A slip critical or better as required by AISC 341-05 section 7.2.
Comment remains. No written response provided and it doesn’t appear as if the details have been modified. Please clarify. WAB – 12/1/2014
TEXT SIZE
MOA Policy AG.39 requires at least one set of plans to have text size of at least 3/32”. Please provide metal building drawings that meet this requirement.
Comment resolved. Full size drawings have been provided. WAB – 12/1/2014
MAKE CORRECTIONS NOTED
Reference page 1 of the metal building drawings. The engineer required that the drawings be revised as noted, but the drawings have not been revised. Please revise and resubmit. Reference AAC section 23.10.104.9.
Comment resolved. The items noted by the EOR have been corrected on the full size drawings. WAB – 12/1/2014
