Advisory Comment (no response required):  This review is based on the requirements of the Anchorage Administrative Code (AAC), 2009 International Building Code (IBC), 2009 International Residential Code (IRC) and all adopted references thereto as amended by MOA. The following comments must be addressed before a permit can be issued. The approval of plans and specifications does not permit the violation of the codes, or any federal, state or local regulations.

1. DEAD LOAD

Please provide the weight of the lifts. ASCE 7-05 Chapter 13 requires elements weighing 20 lbs or more and anchored more than 4' above the floor below to be seismically braced. It may be possible to suspend the equipment per ASCE 7-05 section 13.6.1.

Item resolved. The dead load of the equipment as been provided. The weight is more than 20lbs. WAB - 10/10/2014

2. PENETRATIONS THROUGH SUSPENDED CEILINGS

Unless rigid bracing is used per comment 1, ASCE 7-05 section 13.5.6.2.2(e) requires a 2 in oversized ring, sleeve or adapter through the ceiling tile to allow for free movement of at least 1 in all horizontal direction. Please verify this is met.

Comment remains. It appears from the stamped details provided that the system is not laterally braced. The drawings from Liko appear to show bracing but it is not stamped. This needs to be cleared up before this comment can be approved. WAB - 10/10/2014

3. STAMPED DRAWINGS

Please provide drawings that have been stamped and signed by an engineer licensed in Alaska as required the Alaska State Statutes section 08.48.221.

Comment remains. Some of the details are stamped, but the details from Liko are not stamped. Please clarify. WAB - 10/10/2014

4. LIKO SUPPORT

The details reference "Liko support pendant & attachment by others." Please clarify what this is. No details have been provided for this system. Please provide or clarify. Reference AAC section 23.10.104.8.
