1. The following comments based on the 2011 National Electrical Code (NEC) must be resolved before a permit is issued. The approval of plans and specifications does not permit the violation of any section of the NEC or any federal, state or local regulations.
2. AVAILABLE FAULT CURRENT:
Sheet E3.0 (Field Marking - Available Fault Current). NEC Section 110.24 requires that service equipment be legibly marked in the field with maximum available fault current. The field markings shall include the date the fault current calculation was performed and be of sufficient durability to withstand the environment involved.
3. TRANSFORMER MOUNTING (STRUCTURAL REVIEW)
Sheet E3.0 (One Line Diagram – New Transformers). Provide structural, seismic and wind load calculations as applicable, plus fastening details for the transformer to include engineers stamp and signature, for structural review on a deferred submittal basis. Refer to Anchorage Administrative Code AAC 23.10.104.8.1. Please address.
4. TRANSFORMER DISCONNECTING MEANS:
Sheets E3.0. Please verify that the transformer disconnecting mean comply with NEC Section 450.14. NEC Section 450.14 requires that transformers have a disconnecting means located either in sight of the transformer or in a remote location. When located in the remote location, the disconnecting means shall be lockable and shall be field marked to reference the transformer location.
5. CIRCUIT DIRECTORY OR CIRCUIT INDENTIFICATION ON FLOOR PLAN & PANEL SCHEDULES:
Sheet E3.0 (Floor Plan and Panel Schedules). Panel schedules have generic names for power and lighting circuits. For example: panels H and XXXXXXXXX show many circuits as track lights, sales lights, and P.O.S receptacles. Note that there should not be two circuits have the same name (identifications). These circuits should be identified clearly. Refer to NEC 408.4 for circuit identifications.
6. EXISTING SERVICE LOAD CALCULATIONS:Sheet E3.0 (Panel Schedules – Existing Feeder Load Calculations). The plans have no calculations for feeder loads for the existing building as required by NEC Section 220.87. Please address.
7. When the above comments have been addressed, please update the electrical plans at the MOA Plans Review Office with three (3) sets of revised electrical pages to include clouded changes, electrical engineers stamp and signature.
