Advisory Comment (no response required):  This review is based on the requirements of the Anchorage Administrative Code (AAC), 2009 International Building Code (IBC), 2009 International Residential Code (IRC) and all adopted references thereto as amended by MOA. The following comments must be addressed before a permit can be issued. The approval of plans and specifications does not permit the violation of the codes, or any federal, state or local regulations.

1. Reference SK2 and the memo. Please clarify the attachment of the seismic restraints to the structure and to the all thread/unistrut. Wrapping wire around something does not provide a positive connection as required by ASCE 7-05 section 13.4.

2. Reference SK1 and SK2 and the memo. Please provide a maximum length of the all thread. The all thread will only have the compression capacity to support the required loads when the wires are in tension up to a certain length. Please specify this length and provide the calculations showing it as the limiting length. Reference AAC section 23.10.104.8.
