REVIEW STATUS

07/27/2014 – Initial review (334285).  Comments issued.

GENERAL

This review is code compliance review based on the requirements of the International Existing Building Code (IEBC), 2009 Edition, and all adopted references thereto, as amended by the Municipality of Anchorage in Anchorage Municipal Code (AMC) Title 23.  This review does not permit the violation of the building codes, nor any federal, state, or municipal regulation.

The following comments must be addressed before a permit may be issued.  Additional comments may be issued following review of submitted information.

1. DEFERRED SUBMITTALS
The following items have been noted on the plans to be submitted under deferred status:

a. Steel fabricator certification

b. Stair design

c. Exterior cold formed steel stud wall system

d. Curtain wall design

Please provide the following items for code compliance review, or note them on the plans to be submitted under deferred status:

e. Elevator rail support

f. Escalator seismic restraint

All deferred submittals must be sealed by a Professional Engineer licensed in the State of Alaska.  Submittals must be reviewed for general conformance by the Registered Design Professional prior to submitting to Building Safety for review.  Deferred submittals must be reviewed and approved by Building Safety prior to installation/construction.

2. SPECIAL INSPECTION PERSONNEL

Please provide a letter from the Owner/Owner's Representative, or Special Inspection Agency stating that the Special Inspection Agency has been retained by the Owner to provide special inspection services for the project as required by IBC Chapter 17.

3. SPECIAL CONDITIONS FOR ESCALATOR RESTRAINT

Please provide design criteria, including required seismic interstory drift allowance for the escalator design.

4. EAST EXTERIOR CANOPY LATERAL SYSTEM

Please provide analysis and design calculations for the lateral system of the east exterior canopy.

Reference: IBC Section 1604.4, 1604.8

5. CANOPY FOUNDATION CONNECTION

Please provide design calculations for the foundation corbels supporting the exterior canopy.
