1. The following comments based on the 2011 National Electrical Code (NEC) must be resolved before a permit is issued. The approval of plans and specifications does not permit the violation of any section of the NEC or any federal, state or local regulations.
2. CIRCUIT DIRECTORY OR CIRCUIT INDENTIFICATION ON FLOOR PLAN & PANEL SCHEDULS:
Sheets ES1, E1 and E2 (Floor Plan and Panel Schedules Circuit Identifications). Panel and floor plan do not have same circuit identifications. For examples: circuits on panel schedules are identified as track lights, sales receptacles, show win receptacles, install water heaters. These circuits have shall be clearly identified on panel schedule and floor plan. Refer to NEC 408.4 for circuit identifications.
3. EXISTING SERVICE LOAD CALCULATIONS:Sheet ES1. The plans have no calculations for feeder loads for the existing building as required by NEC Section 220.87. Please address.
4. AVAILABLE FAULT CURRENT:
Sheet ES1 (Field Marking - Available Fault Current). NEC Section 110.24 requires that service equipment be legibly marked in the field with maximum available fault current. The field markings shall include the date the fault current calculation was performed and be of sufficient durability to withstand the environment involved.
5. TRANSFORMERS SECONDARY OVERCURRENT PROTECTION:
Sheet ES1 (The 75 KVA Transformer). The transformers secondary protection is not shown on the line diagram. Pleased show the over current protection or explain your justification for not having the secondary over current protection. Refer to NEC Section 450.3(B).
6. TRANSFORMER DISCONNECTING MEANS:
Sheet ES1 NEC Section 450.14 requires that transformers have a disconnecting means located either in sight of the transformer or in a remote location. When located in the remote location, the disconnecting means shall be lockable and shall be field marked to reference the transformer location. Please address.
7. TRANSFORMERS MOUNTING (STRUCTURAL REVIEW):
Sheet ES1 (Transformers Structural Seismic Calculations). Provide structural, seismic and wind load calculations as applicable, plus fastening details for the transformer including engineers stamp and signature, for structural review on a deferred submittal basis. Refer to Anchorage Administrative Code AAC 23.10.104.8.1. Please address.
8. TRANSFORMER SUSPENDED AND MOUNTING MEANS (HUNG TRANSFORMERS):
Sheet ES1 (Hung Transformer Weight). A note shows that the new 75KVA transformer shall be suspended. NEC section 450.13(B) requires suspended transformers not to exceed 50KVA. Please indicate the size of all suspended transformers.
9. When the above comments have been addressed, please update the electrical plans at the MOA Plans Review Office with three (3) sets of revised electrical pages to include clouded changes, electrical engineers stamp and signature.
