Advisory Comment (no response required): This review is based on the requirements of the Anchorage Administrative Code (AAC), 2009 International Building Code (IBC), 2009 International Residential Code (IRC) and all adopted references thereto as amended by MOA. The following comments must be addressed before a permit can be issued. The approval of plans and specifications does not permit the violation of the codes, or any federal, state or local regulations.
1) TANK FOUNDATION AND ANCHORAGE
Reference detail 3 on sheet C7 of the drawings. Please provide design of the tank foundation and anchorage shown in the referenced detail. Please indicate the size, number, and location of all anchors. Please note that Simpson SET is no longer approved for use in concrete. Simpson SET-XP must be indicated. Please revise. Please note that 9" embedment may exceed the maximum embedment permitted by the adhesive. Please verify. Reference IBC section 1808.3 and ACI 318-08 Appendix D as well as the ICC ES report for Simpson SET-XP.

2) Please provide a statement of special inspections in accordance with IBC section 1705. The statement of special inspections must include both the type and frequency of inspections.
3) Please provide a letter from the Owner indicating who they will be hiring to provide special inspection services for this project. The special inspector(s) must be licensed in the type(s) of inspection(s) to be performed.
Comment reamins. Response accepted; however please provide a letter from the Owner indicating they will be hiring Northern Geotechnical Engineering to perform the special inspections. WAB - 7/3/2012
