All items resolved at counter with Kyle & per separate call to Chicago Architect except for item 5 locking two individual doors against egress. An alternate means is proposed & will be submitted. OK to issue permit with condition that door hardware will be deferred. contractor acknowledged if alt means not approved doors will have to remain unlocked from both sides in order to meet code as doors serve egress in both directions.

.
1. Correct code study as it references the 2006 IBC, IRC, etc. The codes in effect are the 2009 editions. Also this is not a residential building.
Resolved 2/22/2012 under "Revision 5" new sheet A00-10 in response to original architectural comments.
2. Provide fire extingishers (FE's) as required per IFC 906. Show size, type, & location on plans for the entire floor whether existing or new. Travel distance from any point on the floor shall not exceed 75 ft to an FE. On what plan sheets are the FE's or FEC's shown?
Resolved - Additional Fe's added to plans.
3. Show location of all required emergency light fixtures for the entire floor whether existng or new.
Resolved - Existing fixtures throughout floor will remain unchanged. Inspector will field verify.
4. The existing double sided exit sign outside the cafe may be confusing and not necessary. The exit sign leading thru the reception lobby should be avove the door and not necessarily depict a directional arrow. Door 0619B, although not in the work area appears as if it also should have an exit sign. The new exit signs within and outside the training room seem unneccesary and confusing. The existing exit sign @ W3/F should not depict directional arrows.
Resolved - Adjusted arrows and signs to clarify exiting.
5. Every occupant of the floor shall have access to two independent exits at all times. Will the doors serving access to the 2nd required exit from Elevator Lobby 0600 & Reception Area 0602 be unlocked at all times? Tenants may not exit thru other tenant spaces. It appears that exiting to a 2nd stair from cafe 0623 is required to exit thru door 0619A which locks against egress as it requires a card reader.
Not Resolved - They plan to submit alt means & understand if not approved the doors that serve egress in both directions will not be allowed to have locking dardware.
6. Door 0630A appears to be an access controlled exit device. Per IBC 1008.1.4.4 these devices are only allowed on entrance doors to tenant spaces. The size of the room makes this device impractical as any movement within the room will constantlt release the lock. A more appropriate set up may be to provide hardware in compliance with IBC 1008.1.9.8. Please comment.
Resolved - Door is not access controlled. Is not restricted or locked from egress side.
