PERMIT STATUS (no response required) 12/5/2011: Review completed. Comments issued.
Advisory Comment (no response required): This review is based on the requirements of the Anchorage Administrative Code (AAC), 2009 International Building Code (IBC), 2009 International Residential Code (IRC) and all adopted references thereto as amended by MOA. The following comments must be addressed before a permit can be issued. The approval of plans and specifications does not permit the violation of the codes, or any federal, state or local regulations.
1) Please have the engineer of record stamp and sign each page that will be used for construction as required by the Alaska State Statutes section 08.48.221.
2) Please provide a statement of special inspections in accordance with IBC section 1705. Please note that in order for special inspections to be waived on welding, the welds must be less than 50% stressed and must be installed by an AWS certified welder. To waive the special inspection requirements for the welding this must be stated on the drawings. Please note that the MOA inspectors do not have the equipment required to provide special inspections on post installed anchors so if special inspections are waived on those, the Contractor will be responsible for providing the necessary equipment for the MOA inspector to do the inspection. Reference the Anchorage Amendments to the IBC section 23.15.1704.3.
3) Please indicate the epoxy type to be used in the anchorage of the new column. Reference AAC section 23.10.104.8.
4) Please verify that not more than 10% of the lateral resisting system on the wall line with the new door has been removed. Where the lateral resisting strength has been reduced by more than 10% it must be shown that the lateral resisting line has sufficient strength to transfer the loads required by the current building code. Reference IEBC section 303.4.
Please provide a written response to the comments and include one copy of additional or revise calculations, and two copies of additional or revise drawings. While not required it is extremely helpful to the reviewer if the response indicates where in the submittal each comments has been addressed.
All submittals should be sent to the permit manager.
