2nd Review 10/20/2011: Except for original comment # 2 all previous comments resolved. If there is an ICC interpretation allowing the door hardware setup as detailed please provide for further consideration.
IFC 1008.1.9.8 for electromagnetically locked egress doors requires the "listed hardware" to incorporate a built in switch, be affixed to the door leaf & readily operable under all lighting conditions, and capable of being operated with one hand. "The Push to Exit" button is a piece of listed hardware typically used on access controlled egress doors as a failsafe release or used on ADA doors to operate same. IFC 1008.1.9.8 does not require this device nor allows it to be considered as the door leaf hardware. Since the pull handle as shown on your drawing does not incorporate a built in switch operating the door requires the use of more than one hand, would require special knowledge and effort, and most likely is not readily operated under all lighting conditions. Door hardware installations are such that the location and method of operation would be readily known to all users. Your device does not meet this requirement.

As discussed over the phone, since this is a new code section and if you disagree with my application you may request in writing an interpretation from the "Fire Code Official" (Acting Fire Marshall James Gray) as allowed under IFC 104.1. The fire marshall can be reached @ grayjd@muni.org

1. Code study indicates design is to the 2006 version of International Codes. The current adopted code version is the 2009. Although the submital was recieved after the adoption of the current code if the design was began under the 2006 code and was far enough along (+50%) as of the date of adoption you may use the 2006 version. Which code will you be using.
2. The sliding door to the consulting room references a magnetic lock tied to the fire alarm in the remarks section of the door schedule. This is not allowed under the 2006 code however, a new section in the 2009 IBC (1008.1.9.8) may be applicable. Either remove the magenetic lock or provide details to include a hardware cut sheet showing compliance with the code. Your arrangement may not work on a sliding door as the method of operation must be obvious & involve a single motion to operate. I have only seen this newly allowed hardware on lever type knobs, with latches, on side hinged doors. It may not be necessary to tie the mag lock to the fire alarm under the 2009 code. this was a requirement for access controlled egress doors.
Note: Since item #2 is a door hardware issue I would consider allowing construction to procede while treating hardware detail as a deferred submittal. Please either provide corrections or indicate item will be deferred.
