1.   Approved for Under Ground Only.

Please address the following comments for full approval. 3/10/2011

4/28/2011

The correction ----------------------------

2.  The following comments based on the 2008 National Electrical Code (NEC) must be resolved before a permit is issued. The approval of plans and specifications does not permit the violation of any section of the NEC or any federal, state or local regulations.

4/28/2011

No response needed

3.   EQUIPMENT REQUIRES THIRD PARTY LISTING:
Please be aware that all equipment will require and be checked for third party listing per NEC 110-3. Any new or existing equipment to be reused or relocated will be checked for listing by the electrical inspector. Any equipment found without a listing will be required to go through testing to gain approval. Inspector to field verify. NO RESPONSE REQUIRED.

4.   PARKING LIGHT POLE (GROUND MOVEMENT):

There are no engineering details to account for the ground movement. NEC Section 300.5(J) requires that where direct buried conductors, raceway, or cables are subject to movement by settlement or frost, direct buried conductors, raceways, or cable shall be arranged to prevent damage to the enclosed conductors or to equipment connected to the raceways. The arrangement we require is that metal rigid conduit, 5 feet minimum be installed between the base of the pole and underground conduits. Please address.

4/28/2011

The correction is made on the plan and the engineer added RMC conduit. Approved.

5.   FIRE RATING CONSTRUCTION FOR TRANSFORMERS:

Sheet E3.4 (Transformers Installed in Fire Rated Room). Please verify that transformers rated at

112.5 KVA and larger are installed in rooms with a minimum fire rating of 1 hour. Refer to NEC section 450.21B.

4/28/2011

The transformer is constructed  with 220 class insulation. Approved.

.

6.   THE GENERATOR SET:
Sheet E3.4(The Generator set). Please clarify the following:

(A)   The generator feeds the 1200 Amp MDP. The generator must carry all the MDP loads unless

load shedding calculations are provided. Please provide the size of the generator (not up to

500KW as stated on the note about the generator).
(B)   Clarify the generator type? Is it NEC 700, or NEC 701 or NRC 702.

(C)   The alternate design shows 1000A manual transfer load to the 1200A MDP. The manual transfer

switch appears to by undersized. The manual transfer switch is unacceptable with an

        emergency generator set.

(D)   Clarify the circuit and wiring identifications and over-current protection of wiring. (NEC 700.9(A)

       and 700.9(B)).

(E)   Clarify that the fuel tank capacity has a minimum of 2 hours of continuous operation. (NEC

       700.12(b)).

     7.   SERVICE RATED TRANSFER SWITCH:

Sheet E3.4 (Automatic Transfer Switch Service Rating). The transfer switch is installed ahead of the

MDP. Please verify that the transfer switch is of the service rated type.

4/28/2011

8.   PATIENT CARE AREA WIRING METHOD:

Sheet E3.4 (Patient Care Area Wiring). Please verify that all patient care areas such as the radiology room on the second floor comply with NEC Section 517.13.
4/28/2011

The patient care area "the radiology room" will be wired NEC per 517.

9.       When the above comments have been addressed, please update the electrical plans at the MOA Plans Review Office with three (3) sets of revised electrical pages to include clouded changes and  electrical engineers stamp and signature.
