1) STATUS: 1/21/2011 Comments to be addressed.
2) The following comments based on the 2006 International Building, Mechanical and Fuel Gas Codes must be resolved before a permit is issued. The approval of plans and specifications does not permit the violation of any section of the IBC, IMC, IFGC or any federal, state or local regulations.
3) Provide structural, seismic and wind load calculations as applicable plus fastening details for RTU-1 & 2, B-1 thru 3, ET-1 and AC-1 thru 3 to include engineers stamp and signature, for structural review on a deferred submittal basis.
4) 1/M0.2 According to the architectural drawings the main supply air ducts coming from the RTU's drop down through a 1-Hour rated shaft and therefore fire/smoke dampers would be required also on the third floor where the ducts penetrate the shaft walls. This would then be in agreement with sheet M3.2.
5) M3.0 The elevator machine room is required to be a 1-Hour rated enclosure (IBC 3006.4). As such door #163 would be required to be rated for 45 minutes (IBC Table715.4). Undercutting the door would void its listing.
6) M3.0 Any openings through the elevator machine room wall (VF-2) would require a fire damper (IBC 716.5.2).
7) M3.0 The bathroom exhaust fan ductwork (or any other ductwork not related to the operation of the elevator or machine room) may not be located within the machine room (ASME A17.1-2.8.2.4).
8) M3.0 EF-8 ductwork passes through all three floor levels, requires location within a rated shaft (IBC716.6.3) and requires fire/smoke dampers at every penetration of that shaft.
9) M3.1 Provide detailed information regarding the Recirculating Hoods in Lab #238.
10) M3.2 The 10" exhaust duct requires a fire smoke damper where it penetrates the shaft (IBC 716.5.3).
11) M3.3 42" guards are required at the roof edge adjacent to EF-2, EF-4 & EF-7 per IMC304.10. Please clarify.
12) When the above comments have been addressed please update the plans at the MOA Plans Review Office with three sets of revised mechanical plans to include clouded changes, engineers stamp and signature.
