. PERMIT STATUS (no response required) 9/29/2009: Review completed, comments issued. Advisory Comment (no response required): This review is based on the requirements of the Anchorage Administrative Code (AAC), 2006 International Building Code (IBC) and all adopted references thereto as amended by MOA. The following comments must be addressed before a permit can be issued. The approval of plans and specifications does not permit the violation of the codes, or any federal, state or local regulations. EXPOSURE CATEGORY Reference page 7 of the calculations. Please justify the use of Exposure B.Winds from the west/northwest appear to be unobstructed and likely warrant an exposure C category. Reference ASCE 7-05 section 6.5.6.3. OCCUPANCY CATEGORY Regional Hospital is likely Occupancy Category IV, and as so rootop structures should be designed for this same Occupancy Category. It appears that Occupancy Category II has been used. Please justify or revise and resubmit. OVERTURNING ON BUILDING Reference page 9 of the calculations. Overturning on the building must be determined per ASCE 7-05 section 6.5.15 and include the affects of section 6.5.15.1(6.5.15.1 deals directly with rooftop structures so 6.5.15 seems to be the most appropriate design method for the equipment shelter). Please revise and resubmit the calculations or justify the use of the simiplifed procedure (this structure does not meet the definition of low rise building as required by 6.4.1.1 as its mean roof height exceeds its least plan dimension). Please provide a detail that shows the anchorage of the shelter to the building. ANTENNA SUPPORT CONNECTION Reference detail 2 on sheet S1.1. Please clarify how the Antenna support connection shown in the referenced detail supports gravity load. Reference IBC section 1604.4. SHELTER CONSTRUCTION Please provide enough information in the drawings so that the construction of the shelter structure can be verified. If this is a premanufactured shelter please provide the fabricator's qualifications allowing them to do work without special inspection per IBC chapter 17. If the fabricator is not qualified to perform work without special inspections the Owner must coordinate with MOA to allow for MOA inspections during the fabrication of the shelter. Reference AAC section 23.10.104.8 and IBC section 1704.2. DESIGN OF ANTENNA SUPPORT Reference page 8 of the calculations. Please clarify the design of the antenna support. Per the calculations it appears that only one antenna was considered, and per the drawings there appears to be two antennas tributary to each pipe support. Please clarify. Reference IBC section 23.10.104.8. Please provide written response to the comments above and include one copy of additional or revised calculations, and three copies of additional or revised drawings. While not required it is extremely helpful the reviewer if the response indicates where in the submittal each comment has been addressed.
