Advisory Information:
. C(1): A masonry strength of 1500 psi was assumed in the evaluation of allowable shear. 1350 psi masonry was the minimum required by prior codes. Please revise calculation using the minimum masonry strength required at the time of construction or provide documentation that higher strength masonry was required by the plan drawings or that higher strength masonry was provided as recorded by construction documents. C(2): The calculation of allowable shear submitted assumes that special inspections were performed during the original construction. Please provide documentation that these were required during construction by special inspection documentation or requirements on the structural drawings. C(3): The evaluations of masonry shear provided assume uniform distribution of shear among the various piers and flexible diaphram behavior. The floor dead load indicates construction which is expected to be a rigid diaphragm for the LRFS plan provided. Where flexible diaphragm behavior can be considered, distribution along the line of resistance must reflect the rigidity of individual elements. Please provide appropriate lateral force distributions and revised shear evaluations. C(4): The M/vd used for allowable shear calculation does not account for the variation in the aspect ratios of the individual piers. If individual piers are considered this value will be larger and lower allowable shears will be indicated. Please verify moments in individual piers and there respective allowable shears. C(5): The following review is based on the 2006 International Building Code, the International Existing Building Code, and all documents thereto referenced, as amended. This review is not warranted for completeness and plan approval does not permit violation of these codes or other regulations or laws as may apply.
