C(3): ENGINEERED GRADING - GEOTECHNICAL REPORT Because this project includes grading in excess of 5,000 cubic yards, it is defined as Engineered Grading in accordance with AMC 23.105.106.3. Please provide a geotechnical report in accordance with AMC 23.105.106.3.1. Note: AMC 23.105.105 defines grading as "any excavating or filling or combination thereof". 4/24/08: SATISFIED C(4): FILL - COMPACTION The plans do not appear to include requirements for compaction of fills. Please include on the plans requirements for compaction of fills in accordance with AMC 23.105.110.4 and the project specific soils report required in comment 3 above. 4/24/08: SATISFIED C(5): FILL - LIFT THICKNESS Please show on the plans requirements for the fill lift thickness in accordance with the geotechnical report recommendations. For projects that do not have geotechnical report recommendations, the fill lift thickness shall not be greater than 12 inches. AMC 23.105.106.3.1 4/24/08: SATISFIED C(6): FILL - TYPE Please include on the plans requirements for the type of fill using the Municipality Of Anchorage fill type identification system. AMC 105.106.3.1 Note: Although there may be other ways to do it, a couple of possible methods would be to use a conversion/gradation table or revise all of the affected callouts to be using the MOA identification system. 4/24/08: SATISFIED C(7): SPECIAL INSPECTION Because this project exceeds 5,000-cy of material, it is defined as Engineered Grading in accordance with AMC 23.105.106.3. Accordingly, AMC 23.105.114.1 requires special inspection in accordance with the 2006 International Building Code (IBC). Please include on the plans the requirements for special inspection as set forth in IBC 1704.7. Note: this is a new code requirement as of the first of the year. 4/24/08: SATISFIED C(8): BUILDING SAFETY INSPECTION REQUIREMENTS Because this project exceeds 5,000-cy of material, it is defined as Engineered Grading in accordance with AMC 23.105.106.3. Accordingly, the code requires inspections by the Building Safety inspector.
