. C(1): The following comments based on the 2003 International Building, Mechanical and Fuel Gas Codes must be resolved before a permit is issued. The approval of plans and specifications does not permit the violation of any section of the IBC, IMC, IFGC or any federal, state or local regulations. C(2): M2.01: Reference the new fireplaces in the Lobby. Please clarify how the combustion air is provided. Given the height of the building and the exhaust requirements in the lobby area from the restaurant and toilet facilities, the Lobby may be under substantial negative pressure relative to outside, which can create a backdraft condition. Also verify that the long horizontal runs of the venting system comply the the manufacturer's installation requirements. Resolved11-28-07 per response from engineer and fireplace manufacturer. Each fireplace will be powere vented. C(3): 3/M2.04, 4/M2.04: Please clarify the location of the fire rated portion of the shaft. Is the rated shaft enclosed behind nonrated partions (as the details allude to), or does a rated shaft enclose both the ductwork and piping? If the piping is not installed in a rated shaft, then it should be fire stopped at each floor. Resolved 11-28-07 per engineer's response.
