Advisory Information:
. PERMIT STATUS (no response required) 1/14/2010: Review completed, comments issued. 3/16/2010 - Approved. Advisory Comment (no response required): This review is based on the requirements of the Anchorage Administrative Code (AAC), 2006 International Building Code (IBC) and all adopted references thereto as amended by MOA. The following comments must be addressed before a permit can be issued. The approval of plans and specifications does not permit the violation of the codes, or any federal, state or local regulations. STAMPED DETAILS Each detail to be used for construction must be stamped and signed by an engineer licensed in the state of Alaska. Please provide stamped and signed details. Please note that the only equipment required to be reviewed by plan review are the Make-Up Air Units, the Unit Heaters, the Washer Extractor, and possibly the Inline Fans (although no page 6a of the submittal could be located). These would be the details that are required to be stamped and signed. Reference the Alaska State Statutes section 08.48.221. Comment resolved. Response accepted. WAB - 3/16/2010 DESIGN OF ANCHORS Please provide design of the post installed anchors per the appropriate ESR report. Please note that no current ESR report gives allowable values, and they require the design of the anchors to be meet ACI 318-05, Appendix D with the modifications made by the report. Current ICC ES reports can be downloaded from ICC ES's website at http://www.icc-es.org/. Reference IBC section 1703.4. Comment resolved. Response accepted. WAB - 3/16/2010 DESIGN FORCE FOR ANCHORS Reference page 2 of the calculations. Please clarify how Fp has been determined. For example, Rp for MUA has been taken as 6 and ap has been taken as 2.5. The height to the attachment is 14 feet, and the overall height appears to be 29 feet. The importance factor has been taken as 1.5. 0.4*2.5*Sds*(1+2*14/29)*1516/(6/1.5) = 745 lbs which would be greater than the minimum 682 lbs. Also for anchors in concrete or masonry the anchors must be designed for 1.3 times the force determined in ASCE 7-05 section 13.3.1 (reference ASCE 7-05 section 13.4.2). Please also note that Rp shall not be taken greater than 1.5 unless the requirements listed in ASCE 7-05 section 13.4.2 are met. Please clarify. Comment resolved. Response accepted. WAB - 3/16/2010
